14 Hope of Israel Ministries BIBLE Correspondence Course Lesson 33

YEHOVAH God is indeed forgiving and
very merciful!

Pray Fervently!

1. Should we be very FERVENT in our
prayers to YEHOVAH God when asking for His
forgiveness, or for the strength to overcome
temptations which are about to overpower us?
James 5:16.
2. How is such prayer described in the
Bible? Psalm 27:7; II Chronicles 32:20 and
Psalm 62:8.
COMMENT: Notice the words “cry
with my voice” in Psalm 27:7; “prayed and
CRIED” (crying out figuratively and ACTUAL-
LY, at times) in II Chronicles 32:20 and “pour
out your heart” in Psalm 62:8.
3. Are we shown, by David’s example,
that we should throw our WHOLE HEART into
our prayers? Psalm 119:58, 145.
4. Did the Messiah set us an example of
FERVENT prayer? Hebrews 5:7 and Luke 22:
44.
COMMENT: Before the Messiah died
for us on the tree, he prepared for his ordeal with
FERVENT prayer. He was so earnest in seeking
his Father’s will (verse 42), that he literally
SWEAT BLOOD in the chilled Garden of Geth-
semane.
5. What is the Messiah’s command to all
who would follow him? Luke 22:45-46.
COMMENT: The Messiah set us the
example. His fervent and frequent prayers to
YEHOVAH God for spiritual strength had
everything to do with his final victory over sin
and death.
The same applies to us today! We should
pray FERVENTLY to YEHOVAH God for the
STRENGTH TO RESIST SIN!
6. Should we pray with a fervent desire to
be ANSWERED? Psalm 27:7-9 and 102:1-2.
