YEHOVAH Hates Violence
Today, most of the action movies portray a great amount of violence. Even some of the more acceptable action movies, such as the Indiana Jones movies and others, are given to displays of violence. Such conduct would have been appalling to the public a half century ago. Yet, YEHOVAH has plainly spoken in His Word. "Yahweh tries the righteous; BUT THE WICKED AND HIM THAT LOVES VIOLENCE HIS SOUL HATES. Upon the wicked he will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup. For Yahweh is righteous; he loves righteousness: The upright shall behold his face." (Psalm 11:5-7).
The book of Obadiah also brings forth some further objections to violence:
"For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off forever. In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even you were as one of them. But do not look on the day of your brother in the day of his disaster, and rejoice not over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither speak proudly in the day of distress. Enter not into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yes, do not look on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither lay hands on their substance in the day of their calamity. And stand not in the crossways to cut off those of his that escape; and deliver not up those of his that remain in the day of distress.
"For the day of Yahweh is near upon all the nations: as you have done, it shall be done to you; your dealing shall return upon your own head. For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; yes, they shall drink, and swallow down, and shall be as though they had not been." (Obadiah 10-16).
If all of these accounts warn the readers against such evil conduct, should we not learn lessons from the biblical past? If we do not learn these lessons, repent, and change, YEHOVAH's righteous judgments will fall upon all who live in this wicked age.
