A number of Churches (including the Jehovah Witnesses) claim that Yeshua the Messiah was nailed to a simple upright post or 'stake.' In so-called 'passion plays' you often see a complete cross (upright AND crossbeam) being dragged to 'Golgotha' by the one playing the role of the Messiah. Some sources claim Yeshua carried just the CROSSBEAM to the place of execution which, along with himself, was hoisted up and attached to an existing stake.
