The "Beast" Bill

'The march to an American police state continues. The House of Representatives voted 289 to 142 on 2/8/95 to allow law enforcement officials to break into homes and search them without a search warrant. The Bill (HR 666) -- nicknamed the beast -- was pushed through by the Republican leadership (i.e., 220 Republicans and 69 Democrats voted for passage). It is a total violation of the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution -- the right to protection against unreasonable search and seizures. Once again the Republicans show their true colors! The bill has now passed the U.S. Senate and gone to the President's desk for signing' (MIA, p.19-20).
