"As It Was In the Days of Noah"

In the great Mount Olivet prophecy, detailing the signs of the times which would point like a road-sign to his Second Coming, Yeshua the Messiah made a remarkable statement which many have ignored to their own peril, or glossed over to their own destruction. Yeshua the Messiah declared:

"But AS THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be" (Matt. 24:37-39).

In the book of Genesis, we read what the world was really like in the days of Noah, which caused YEHOVAH God to lament the fact that He had even created mankind. "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart" (Gen. 6:5-6). The Hebrew word for "great" here is rab and means "abundant," in every way -- size, shape, quantity -- "multitude, abounding, exceeding, vast, large, powerful." Thus evil DOMINATED the earth at that time -- it sat in high offices, governmental authorities, the powers that existed were wicked and shameful through and through.

The Hebrew for "every imagination of the thoughts of his heart" means, THE WHOLE IMAGINATION -- the Hebrew signifies also the purposes and desires of the heart -- EVERYTHING about mankind's motives, schemes, plots, conquests, lusts, ideas, dreams, fantasies -- it was ALL WICKED, building on iteelf, feeding on itself, growing and multiplying, ALL THE TIME -- incessantly, continuously, without interruption!

Mankind's thoughts were exclusively evil and wicked" -- continually," or, as the Hebrew implies, "EVERY DAY. " And in verse 9 we read: "The earth also was CORRUPT before God, and the earth was FILLED WITH VIOLENCE. " Again, the word for "corrupt" here is shatach, and means, "to decay, ruin, cast off, destroy, mar, spill, spoil." Gesenius Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon says of this word: "To destroy, to ruin, either by laying waste, as a country, region, or field . . . or by pulling down, as walls, a city, or by wounding, or by killing, both individuals and whole peoples."

In other words, the earth was filled with destruction, of every kind, ruining the planet, including environmental waste and pollution -- and it was filled with violence, murders, massacres, and even "ethnic cleansing" and GENOCIDE, during the times of Noah. How similar the world then was to OUR WORLD, TODAY! The Germans are exenophobic toward all foreigners, and police stand by and watch as German youth burn houses, beat up Turkish elderly men and women, and hurl racist taunts and jibes at immigrants. In Bosnia, the Croats and Serbs continue their murder and mayhem against the Bosnians, who retaliate in kind when weapons are available. In Africa, civil wars, rival gangs, and terrorists wage destruction. Ruthless drug cartels and empires rule vast areas of Peru and Columbia, exporting their illicit merchandise of death to the "affluent Western nations," especially the United States.

The word violence in this verse is chamac in Hebrew and means, "violence, wrong, unjust gain, cruelty, damage, false, injustice, oppression." The earth during Noah's time was filled with wrong, injustice, oppression, and violence -- and the world today is filled with the very same thing -- the very same EVIL SYSTEM! Governments plunger, rape, destroy, steal, and oppress their people. Nations become enslaved. Freedoms and liberties are lost. Violence, extortion, fraud, and wickedness fill the earth. Part of the cause of these heinous evils and horrendous crimes, is the repudiation and rejection on the part of mankind of the moral, spiritual and ethical LAWS OF YEHOVAH GOD, which themselves produce justice, righteousness, equity, peace, goodness, and genuine concern for one's brother.

However, another vitally important factor caused YEHOVAH God be become nauseated and furious with the world before the Flood. A contributor, David C. Whitaker, wrote to me recently, pointing it out. He declared:

"In the new issue of Inside Israel Newsketter (vol.13, no.7), Rabbi Chaim Dov Keller is reported as writing in the 'Jewish Observer': 'The Midrash (Acharei Mos) tells us that the Generation of the Flood was wiped out only because they wrote marriage contracts between males just as they did for conventional couples.' We can better understand the cultural expression 'only because' as meaning 'the singular primary reason' in importance as the cause why God brought the Flood upon the world at that time in antiquity.

"For many years, I have realized that Mr. GTA's explanation of Matthew 24:38 'didn't hold water' -- there is nothing wrong in 'marrying and giving in marriage' in itself, unless wrong things or wrong people were being married to one another. Rabbi Keller has provided information from Jewish Midrash (commentary) to help us better comprehend Jesus' intended meaning and Message!"

How interesting! The cities of Solom and Gomorrah, shortly after lesson of the Flood, flaunted their gross sexual misbehavior before the eyes of YEHOVAH God, and gave themselves over to rampant homosexuality, endorsing the "gay lifestyle" -- as the United States government, and the world today also seem hell-bent on doing, come hell or high water! The Sodomites even sought to gang-rape strangers visiting Abraham's nephew Lot (Gen. 19:5). But YEHOVAH God brought upon them swift destruction (Gen. 19:6-26).

The apostle Jude writes about this awesome retribution:

"Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to FORNICATION [Greek, ekporneuo meaning "to be utterly, exceedingly unchaste" -- totally immoral, and acting the harlot, including adultery and incest], and going after STRANGE FLESH [Greek, "other" flesh, ie., homosexuality, and bestiality!], are set forth for an EXAMPLE, SUFFERING THE VENGEANCE OF ETERNAL FIRE" (Jude 7).

YEHOVAH God Almighty, our Creator, considers these sins to be so GREAT and GRIEVOUS that He destroyed the world before the Flood because of flagrant homosexuality -- men marrying men, and women marrying women. He likewise consumed in a fiery holocaust the homoerotic cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their inhabitants, for the very same reason! YEHOVAH is not "homophobic"-- that is, He does not "fear" homosexuals or their conduct -- but He is definitely "homomiseobic" -- that is, He HATES, and DETESTS homosexuality and the conduct of homosexuals! Their life style completely destroys and perverts His great Plan for mankind and womankind! YEHOVAH God thunders in His Law:

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed ABOMINATION: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. . .

"And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast. And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (Leviticus 20:13-16)

Utimately, it was the gross and terrible sin of homosexuality which was the "last straw," which caused YEHOVAH God Almighty to WIPE OUT THE WORLD of mankind, before the Flood, except for the family of Noah and, apparently, a few others. Noah was "a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God" (Gen. 6:9). Only Noah and his family and a few others were spared. The apostle Peter tells us:

"[YEHOVAH] spared not the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness [obedience to YEHOVAH's Law], bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an EXAMPLE unto those that after should live ungodly; and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conduct of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations [Tribulation and sore trial], and to reserve the unjust unto the DAY OF JUDGMENT to be punished " (II Peter 2:5-9).

"And as it was in the days of Noah," Yeshua said, "so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man" (Luke 17:26). History IS repeating itself! Is YOUR soul "vexed" with the evil deeds and practices of this deceitful, corrupt, modern world? YEHOVAH God knows how to deliver the righteous out of calamity and destruction, even while he punishes the wicked. Like righteous Lot and Noah, will YEHOVAH see fit to SPARE YOU from the coming correction, and deliver you out of it, and protect you during the fast-approaching Day of His Wrath?
