Hope of Israel Ministries (Ecclesia of YEHOVAH):

Differences Between YEHOVAH God and the Messiah

When the Messiah came to his home city of Nazareth, he read to the congregation in the synagogue from Isaiah 61:1 and added "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears." Yeshua had told the people that he was the Messiah, but they found it hard to believe. Did they not know Yeshua? Was he not the son of a common man named Joseph? There was no question among those who knew him in childhood that he was the son of Joseph. It was because of this knowledge that they wondered at his words, him being the son of a common man!

(1) YEHOVAH God is immortal -- Yeshua, the first-born Son of YEHOVAH God, died

1 Timothy 1:17: "So to the King -- eternal, imperishable and invisible, the only God there is -- let there be honor and glory for ever and ever! Amen" (JNT).

1 Corinthians 15:3: "...the Messiah died for our [Israel's] sins, in accordance with what the Tanakh says;"

Romans 5:10: "For if we [of Israel] were reconciled with God through His Son's death when we were enemies, how much more will we be delivered by his life, now that we are reconciled!

(2) YEHOVAH God is self sufficient -- the Messiah is YEHOVAH God-dependent

Acts 2:36: "Therefore, let the whole house of Israel know beyond doubt that God has made him both Lord and Messiah -- this Yeshua, whom you executed on a stake [tree]!

Acts 5:31: "God has exalted this man at His right hand as ruler and savior, in order to enable Israel to do t'shuvah and have her sins forgiven."

Acts 2:33: "Moreover, he [the Messiah] has been exalted to the right hand of God; has received from the Father what He promised, namely, the Ruach HaKodesh [holy spirit]; and has poured out this gift, which you are both seeing and hearing."

John 17:2: "...just as You [YEHOVAH God] gave him [the Messiah] authority over all people [of Israel], so that he might give eternal life to all those [of Israel] You have given him."

John 5:27: "Also He [YEHOVAH God] has given him [the Messiah] authority to execute judgment [over Israel], because he is the Son of Man."

Romans 2:16: "...on a day when God passes judgment on people's inmost secrets. (According to the Good News as I proclaim it, He (YEHOVAH God] does this through the Messiah Yeshua.)"

2 Corinthians 13:4: "For although he [the Messiah] was executed on a stake [tree] in weakness, now he lives by God's power. And we too are weak in union with him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by God's power."

John 5:22: "The Father does not judge anyone but has entrusted all judgment to the Son."

(3) YEHOVAH God is eternal -- the Messiah is begotten (=brought into existence)

Galatians 4:4: "...but when the appointed time arrived, God sent forth His Son. He was born from a woman, born into a culture in which legalistic perversion of the Torah was the norm..."

Matthew 1:1: "This is the genealogy of Yeshua the Messiah, son of David, son of Avraham:"

Luke 1:31: "Look! You will become pregnant, you will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua."

Luke 1:32: "He will be great, he will be called Son of HaElyon, Adonai, God will give him the throne of his forefather David;"

Acts 17:31: "For He [YEHOVAH God] has set a Day when He will judge the inhabited world [of Israel], and do it justly, by means of a man whom He [YEHOVAH God] has designated. And He [YEHOVAH God] has given public proof of it by resurrecting this man from the dead."

1 John 5:1: "Everyone who believes that Yeshua is the Messiah has God as his father, and everyone who loves a father loves his offspring too."

(4) YEHOVAH God is invisible -- the Messiah is visible

John 1:18: "No one has ever seen God; but the only and unique Son, who is identical with God and is at the Father's side -- he has made Him known."

1 Timothy 1:17: "So to the King -- eternal, imperishable and invisible, the only God there is -- let there be honor and glory for ever and ever! Amen.

John 17:3: "And eternal life is this: to know You, the one true God, and him whom You sent, Yeshua the Messiah."

(5) YEHOVAH God is holy -- the Messiah became sin for us of Israel

1 Peter 1:15-16: "On the contrary, following the Holy One [YEHOVAH God] who called you, become holy yourselves in your entire way of life; since the Tanakh says, 'You are to be holy because I [YEHOVAH God] am holy."

Leviticus 11:44: "For I the LORD am your God: you shall sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am holy..." (The Tanakh).

2 Corinthians 5:21: "God made this sinless man be a sin offering on our [Israel's] behalf, so that in union with him we might fully share in God's righteousness" (JNT).

(6) YEHOVAH God is all-knowing -- the Messiah is not

Job 21:22: "Can God be instructed in knowledge, He who judges from such heights?" (The Tanakh).

Psalm 147:4: "He [YEHOVAH God] reckoned the number of the stars; to each He gave its name."

Acts 1:7: "He [the Messiah] answered, 'You don't need to know the dates or the times; the Father has kept these under His own authority'" (JNT).

Mark 13:32: "However, when that day and hour will come, no one knows -- not the angels in heaven, not the Son, just the Father."

Mark 5:31-32: "His [the Messiah's] talmidim [disciples] responded, 'You see the people pressing in on you; and still you ask, "Who touched me?"' But he kept looking around to see who had done it" (The Messiah did not know who had touched him, Luke 8:45).

Luke 2:40: "The child [the Messiah] grew and became strong and filled with wisdom -- God's favor was upon him."

Luke 2:52: "And Yeshua grew both in wisdom and in stature, gaining favor both with other people and with God."

(7) The Messiah is a man -- YEHOVAH God is not

Numbers 23:19: "God is not a man to be capricious, or mortal to change His mind. Would He speak and not act, promise and not fulfill?" (The Tanakh).

James 1:17: "...every good act of giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father who made the heavenly lights; with Him there is neither variation nor darkness caused by turning" (JNT).

Luke 4:4: "But Jesus answered him, saying, 'It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God"'".

John 6:42: "They said, 'Isn't this Yeshua Ben-Yosef [Yeshua the son of Joseph]? We know his father and mother! How can he now say, "I have come down from heaven"'?"

Luke 4:22: "Everyone was speaking well of him [the Messiah] and marveling that such appealing words were coming from his mouth. They were even asking, 'Can this be Yosef's [Joseph's] son?'"

Acts 2:22: "Men of Israel! Listen to this! Yeshua from Natzeret [Nazareth] was a man demonstrated to you to have been from God [empowered by YEHOVAH] by the powerful works, miracles and signs that God performed through him in your presence."

Luke 4:18: "The spirit of Adonai [YEHOVAH God] is upon me; therefore He [YEHOVAH God] has anointed [consecrated] me [the Messiah] to announce Good News to the poor..."

Acts 10:38: "...how God anointed Yeshua from Natzeret with the Ruach HaKodesh [holy spirit] and with power; how Yeshua went about doing good and healing all the people oppressed by the Adversary, because God was with him."

Matthew 12:18: "Here is My servant, whom I have chosen [from among men], My beloved, with whom I am well pleased; I will put My spirit on him, and he will announce justice to the Gentiles [House of Israel in dispersion]."

1 Timothy 2:5: "For God is one; and there is but one Mediator between God and men [of Israel], Yeshua the Messiah, himself human..."

(8) The Messiah prays to his GOD and Father

Matthew 27:46: "At about three, Yeshua uttered a loud cry, 'Eli! Eli! L'mah sh'vaktani? (My God! My God! Why have you deserted me?)."

Matthew 6:9: "You, therefore, pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven! May Your Name be kept holy."

Mark 12:29: "Yeshua answered, 'The most important is, 'Sh'ma Israel, Adonai Eloheynu, Adonai echad [Hear O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one].'"

(9) YEHOVAH God cannot be tempted -- the Messiah was tempted

James 1:13: "No one being tempted should say, 'I am being tempted by God.' For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God Himself tempts no one."

Luke 4:1-2: "Then Yeshua, filled with the Ruach HaKodesh [holy spirit], returned from the Yarden [Jordan] and was led by the spirit in the wilderness for forty days of testing [tempting] by the Adversary. During that time he ate nothing and afterwards he was hungry."

(10) YEHOVAH God is the Almighty -- the Messiah is the Son of God, servant, sent, appointed, anointed, approved, prophet, priest, and future king of Israel on David's throne.

John 20:21: "'Shalom aleikhem!' Yeshua repeated. 'Just as the Father sent me, I myself am also sending you.'"

1 Corinthians 15:20-28: "But the fact is that the Messiah has been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those [Israelites] who have died. For since death came through a man, also the resurrection of the dead [of Israel] has come through a man. For just as in connection with Adam all [of Israel] die, so in connection with the Messiah all [of Israel] will be made alive. But each in his own order: the Messiah is the first-fruits; then those [of Israel] who belong to the Messiah, at the time of his coming; then the culmination, when he [the Messiah] hands over the Kingdom to God the Father, after having put an end to every ruler-ship, yes, to every authority and power. For he has to rule until he puts all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be done away with will be death, for 'He [YEHOVAH God] put everything in subjection under his [the Messiah's] feet.' But when it says that 'everything' has been subjected, obviously the word does not include God, who is Himself the One subjecting everything to the Messiah. Now when everything has been subjected to the Son, then he will subject himself to God, who subjected everything to him; so that God may be everything in everyone."

(11) YEHOVAH God has no God -- the Messiah has a God

2 Corinthians 11:31: "God the Father of the Lord Yeshua -- blessed be He forever -- knows that I am not lying!"

Ephesians 1:3: "Praised be Adonai, Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who in the Messiah has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heaven."

Ephesians 4:6: "...and one God, the Father of all [of Israel], who rules over all [of Israel], works through all [of Israel] and is in all [of Israel]."

1 Peter 1:3: "Praised be God, Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who, in keeping with His great mercy, has caused us [of Israel], through the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah from the dead, to be born again to a living hope..."

John 20:17: "'Stop holding onto me,' Yeshua said to her, 'because I haven't yet gone back to the Father. But go to my brothers, and tell them that I am going back to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
